The Pilsner Blonde that does not need anything explained.

Blonde. Clean. Dry. The Classic Pilsner Blonde is your way into proper lager territory without needing a lagering fridge or a PhD in European brewing. The New World Lager Yeast is a sneaky hybrid that ferments happily at room temperature up to 22 degrees Celsius, which means your existing setup is already the right setup. No upgrades required.

Want it extra dry and lower carb? Throw in a sachet of glucoamylase enzyme with the yeast. Consider it your secret weapon.

Beer You Will Get

  • Colour: Pale straw (5 EBC)
  • Body: Light and crisp with a clean, dry finish
  • ABV: 2.6% to 4.8% depending on your recipe

Kit includes:

  • New World Lager Yeast

Optional dry hop additions:

  • 10 to 30g of your favourite hops for added aroma - go classic European or something a bit more adventurous

Recommended fermentables:

For a Pilsner Blonde:

For a lighter version:

Complementary products:

Volume: Makes 21 litres of beer (that is the equivalent of 56 stubbies).

Want it even drier and lower carb? Add a sachet of glucoamylase enzyme with the yeast for that extra-crisp finish.

Brewing Instructions

How to brew your Brick Road
Pilsner Blonde:

  1. Pop the lid and retrieve the yeast sachet from underneath. Set aside.
  2. Stand the can in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the wort.
  3. Dissolve the contents into 2 litres of hot water in a clean, sanitised fermenter.
  4. Add your choice of adjunct (see ABV options above) and stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Top up with cold water to reach 23 litres. Stir well and check the temperature is between 18 and 28 degrees C.
  6. Sprinkle the yeast over the wort surface, seal and fit the airlock.
  7. Fermentation usually kicks off within 6 to 12 hours.
Leave it for 7 days minimum.
  8. Once the gravity is stable for two consecutive days, you are ready to bottle or keg.

Pro tip: For the driest, crispest result use dextrose. For more body and malt character, use 1.5kg Brick Road Extra Light Malt Extract.
