A clean, fresh IPA that gets out of the way and lets you make it your own

Brick Road IPA is the base, your hops are the hero.

The Brick Road IPA is built clean and then gets out of the way so you can make it your own. Fresh, well-attenuated, moderately bitter it gives you a solid base and then steps aside. Dry hop with Nelson Sauvin for white wine and gooseberry notes, Citra for citrus and tropical fruit, Mosaic for something more complex. This kit is genuinely as good as whatever hops you decide to throw at it.

ABV options:

•       3.5% - mid-strength session IPA

•       4.8% - full-strength IPA with proper bite

What you get:

•       1.5kg can of hopped IPA wort concentrate (Muntons all-grain premium malts)

•       Ale yeast sachet under the lid

•       Makes 23 litres

Add at least 30g (up to 200g depending on how much flavour you like) of American hops like Centennial, Cascade, Citra or Amarillo to brew citrus, fruity American Style West Coast IPA.

Pine notes more your thing - try Columbus hops.

Want more of an Australian IPA add hops like Galaxy or Vic Secret

Or try a NZ IPA by using Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin or Motueka.

Brewing Instructions

Extract Can Brewing Instructions

  1. Clean & sanitise. Everything that touches your beer. No shortcuts.
  2. Make your wort. Pour 2L boiling water into fermenter. Soften can in hot water (10 mins), empty into fermenter. Add fermentables (~1kg), stir until dissolved. Top up to 23L. Wort made. Legend.
  3. Cool & pitch. Cool to 18-22°C, take a gravity reading, sprinkle yeast on top.
  4. Ferment. Seal up, add airlock, find a dark spot at 18-22°C. Dry hop on day 4 if your recipe calls for it — just chuck 'em in.
  5. Check gravity. From day 5, take readings on consecutive days. Two identical readings under 1.016? You're done.
  6. Package. Bottle with carbonation drops or priming sugar, or keg it. Bottles need 2-4 weeks. Kegs are faster — obvious choice.
  7. Drink & brag. You made beer. Get around it.

Pro tip: Add 50 to 150g of aromatic hops — Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Galaxy or Mosaic — at dry-hop stage on day five to seven. This is where this kit really comes into its own.
