Light, crisp and dangerously drinkable. Brick Road Mexican Cerveza is the beer you want in your hand when it’s 35 degrees and the lawn still needs mowing.

This one’s all about refreshment. Pale straw colour, clean lager malt and just enough bitterness to keep it honest. No big flavours fighting for attention. Just a cold, easy-drinking lager that begs for a wedge of lime. The best part? It comes with a hybrid New World Lager yeast that ferments clean at up to 22°C, so you can get a proper crisp lager without a dedicated lager fridge. Brewed from premium all-grain hopped wort, reduced to 80 brix to keep the fresh malt flavour locked in.

ABV options

  • 2.6%: brew low for a light, all-day thirst quencher
  • 3.5%: brew mid-strength for an easy-going everyday cerveza
  • 4.8%: brew with 1kg dextrose or brewing sugar for a full-strength Mexican lager

What you get

  • 1.5kg can of hopped Mexican Lager wort concentrate
  • New World Lager yeast sachet under the lid
  • Makes 23 litres

Optional dry hop additions

Want a bit more flavour? Throw in 10 to 30g of a noble hop like Tettnanger, Hallertau or Saaz. Or keep it local with Motueka or Wakatu for a fresh, zesty lift that plays nicely with the lime.

Specs (approx., 23L with 1kg dextrose): Pale straw, 5 EBC | 17 IBU | OG 1.038 | FG 1.008

Brewing Instructions

How to brew your Brick Road Red
Ale:

  1. Pop the lid and retrieve the yeast sachet from underneath. Set aside.
  2. Stand the can in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the wort.
  3. Dissolve the contents into 2 litres of hot water in a clean, sanitised fermenter.
  4. Add your choice of adjunct (see ABV options above) and stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Top up with cold water to reach 23 litres. Stir well and check the temperature is between 18 and 28 degrees C.
  6. Sprinkle the yeast over the wort surface, seal and fit the airlock.
  7. Fermentation usually kicks off within 6 to 12 hours. Leave it for 7 days minimum.
  8. Once the gravity is stable for two consecutive days, you are ready to bottle or keg.
