T500 Temp Sensor Probe - Crimped

The crimped temperature sensor probe sits at the top of the T500 still and monitors vapour temperature throughout the distillation run — this is essential for knowing when to take cuts and when to stop.

During distillation, vapour temperature rises progressively as the run proceeds.

Ethanol vapour rises at a lower temperature than water and heavier compounds.

By watching the temperature closely, an experienced distiller knows when they are in the hearts of the run (the best quality spirit), when the tails begin (heavier compounds, lower quality), and when to stop collecting.

The probe includes Teflon-coated wire, which resists alcohol degradation, and a stainless steel probe tip.

Replace if the probe gives erratic readings, the Teflon coating is damaged, or the crimp connection fails.
