Still Spirits T500 Steel Saddles 500g

Stainless steel column saddles are the packing material that fills the T500 reflux column — they are what makes a reflux still produce high-purity neutral spirit.

Saddles create a very large internal surface area inside the column.

As alcohol vapour rises through the packed column, it repeatedly contacts the cooler saddle surfaces and partially condenses. Heavier compounds, water and congeners condense and fall back down into the boiler, while lighter, purer ethanol vapour continues rising to the condenser.

The more surface area the saddles create, the more reflux action occurs and the purer the distillate.

500g of stainless saddles is sufficient to fill the T500 column.

Shake saddles into the column and gently tap to settle them into place as you fill.
