Filter papers are used for paper filtration — a polishing step that removes fine particles and hazes from spirit after carbon filtration.

Carbon filtration removes chemical impurities and off-flavours from the wash. Paper filtration takes the process one step further by mechanically removing very fine suspended particles that can cause cloudiness in the finished spirit, particularly when cooled. This is sometimes called chill filtration when done at low temperatures. The result is a visually clear, professional-looking spirit.

Filter papers are a single-use consumable — one per filtration batch. Discard after use.
