Still Spirits Botanical (Gin) Basket

The botanical basket can be used with both the T500 and the Still Spirits Alembic distillation unit to make gin, essential oils and other plant-based botanical spirits.

Vapour infusion through a botanical basket is the same method used by commercial gin distilleries.

The botanical basket sits in the vapour path between the boiler and condenser.

As alcohol vapour rises from the boiler, it passes through the packed botanicals, extracting their aromatic oils and carrying them into the condenser where they become part of the distillate.

This produces a more integrated botanical character than cold infusion — the botanicals contribute to the spirit rather than being steeped into it. The basket works with both the T500 Reflux Condenser and the Alembic Pot Still setup.

Note: when using with the T500 Reflux Condenser, remove the saddles from the column prior to the botanical run so the vapour flows freely through the botanicals.
