Brew up a storm - bold IPA with tropical citrus firepower.

Coopers Brew A IPA delivers big hop character with tropical and citrus punch that makes subtle beer look boring. This is IPA for brewers who want hop domination from their own gear. Bold, brash, unapologetically hoppy.

Perfect for those who want IPA attitude from their fermenter. Big hops, big flavour, your brewing prowess on display.

How much beer does it make? 21 litres (about 56 stubbies or 44 schooners)

Beer You Will Get:

  • Colour: Golden amber
  • Body: Medium with big hops
  • ABV: Around 5-5.5%
  • Best served: Cool (6-8°C)

Brew it as it is, or try our Thick as a Brick Recipe, Kissin' a Cougar, USA Sugar Daddy, or Rusty Nut Recipe - to brew beers in the style of your favourite commercial IPAs.

Brewing Instructions

How to Brew It:

  1. Clean your gear. Sanitise everything like your beer depends on it... because it does!
  2. Pour 3L of warm water (500ml boiling + 2.5L cold) into fermenter
  3. Soften your extract can in hot water (10 mins), then empty into fermenter
  4. Add 3 x 500g Coopers Light Dry Malt Extract (1.5kg total). Swirl gently until dissolved
  5. Top up fermenter to 23L mark with cold water. Boom! You have made wort!
  6. Cool wort to 18-22°C. Take gravity reading if you are keen
  7. Sprinkle yeast over wort
  8. Cover, add airlock, and place in dark spot (21-27°C). If adding hops, dry hop (chuck them in) on day 4
  9. After 6 days, check gravity. Take gravity readings on consecutive days. If they are identical and under 1.016, you are good to go!
  10. Bottle or keg. Add carbonation drops or sugar when bottling. Wait 2 weeks minimum (better at 4 weeks)
  11. You are officially an IPA wizard! Drink and brag.
