Byron Beast is a 3-ingredient extract can kit that makes 23 litres of a Galaxy hop Pacific Ale

Styled on Stone & Wood's Pacific Ale — this kit makes about 56 stubbies or 44 schooners per batch. It's an easy first brew for beginners and a reliable go-to for experienced home brewers who love that tropical, citrus-peach-passionfruit profile.

Q: How does this kit compare to the beer it's styled on?

A: Look, we clone it with 40g of Galaxy hops — same hop that gives the real Pacific Ale its citrus, peach and passionfruit punch — so it's not far off at all. Don't just take our word for it though: one customer reckoned they "couldn't tell the difference from the beer I have at my local club," and another called it "fairly close to the real thing." One brewer even said if you're into Pacific Ale style, this one's the one to go for. Brew it yourself and be the judge.

Q: What equipment do I need beyond what's in the kit?

A: The kit's got your extract can, malt/dextrose, hops and instructions sorted. You'll still need your own fermenter, a hydrometer, and the usual sanitising and bottling or kegging gear. No kit yet? Check out our starter equipment range and we'll sort you out.

Q: How long does it take to brew and how long until it's ready to drink?

A: Ferment for at least 5 days, dry hop with the Galaxy on day 4, then give it another 5-7 days to clear once fermentation's done. Bottling? Condition for at least 2 weeks at 18-22°C before you crack one open. All up, budget about 4 weeks from brew day to first pour — patience pays off here.

Q: Can I pick this up in-store or does it have to be delivered?

Both — order online for delivery across NSW and most of Australia, or swing by our Newcastle store and grab it in person. Either way, we've got you covered.
