A deep red pour, caramel malt richness, and a crew of American hops raising the alarm.

A fresh wort kit for brewing a Red IPA at home that brings together two things the beer world does not always put in the same glass: the rich, caramel malt character of a red ale, and the aggressive, fruit-forward hop presence of an American IPA. The Mutiny is generously hopped with new world American varieties that deliver tropical and resinous character on top of a malt base that adds depth, sweetness, and that beautiful deep red colour.

Red IPAs occupy a space that not enough homebrewers explore — they are bigger and more complex than a standard pale ale, more interesting than a straight-up red ale, and the malt-hop balance is more nuanced than a single-minded American IPA. The Mutiny does it properly, with flavour in overdrive from start to finish without losing the drinkability that makes a good IPA worth coming back to.

Yeast not included. Makes 20 litres. FWKs are available instore or via local delivery only.

Brewing Instructions

Step 1: Decant the fresh wort into a clean and sanitised fermenter.

Step 2: Add 5 litres of water to bring the total volume to 20 litres.

Step 3: Take a sample of your wort and use a hydrometer to measure the original gravity.

Step 4: Aerate the wort and pitch your yeast.

Step 5: If dry hopping, add your hops when fermentation is nearly complete. Leave for no more than 3 days.

Step 6: Once fermentation is complete, cold crash or transfer directly to bottles or a keg for conditioning.

Step 7: Enjoy responsibly.

Note: Adding water is optional.
Skipping this step will produce a beer with a higher ABV and a lower yield.
